Damietta Public Free Zone

Damietta Governorate is located in North Delta on the east bank of the Nile. The economic activity in this Governorate is one of the best economic patterns as it is characterized by diversity and based on the human element. The economic activity in Damietta depends on small production units, mostly owned and managed by the private sector. In addition, Damietta has a fishing fleet constituting a large proportion of the total fishing fleets across Egypt, not to mention its huge shipyard.

Economic changes have taken place in Damietta Governorate since the inauguration of Damietta Port in 1986, which is an alternative port to Alexandria Port that reduced the shipping costs and ships waiting charges, and the development of container transport.This port also achieved a major breakthrough as a transit port containing the largest container space in the Egyptian ports.

Damietta Public Free Zone was established in Damietta by a Cabinet Resolution No. 60 of 1993 and started in receiving investors, for the establishment of their projects, since 1998 on an area of 190 acres (798 thousand m2) adjacent to Damietta Port overlooking the Mediterranean Sea from the north-eastern side in front of the ship's canal that connect it to the Nile River through Damietta Branch.

The Zone is located directly in a unique location on the Mediterranean, which is characterized by its adjacent to the fence of Damietta Port on an area of 190 acres, just 55 km west of Port Said Port on the Mediterranean and the northern entrance of the Suez Canal. Damietta Public Free Zone is characterized by a joint gateway between the Zone and the port, which provides transport and insurance expenses for handling goods between the Zone and the port and completing all customs procedures directly within the Zone.

 

Infrastructure

Damietta Public Free Zone are supplied with an integrated network of utilities and infrastructure services, with a high level of efficiency, including networks of water and industrial wastewater, telephone network, high-speed international information network (Internet), a medium/low voltage power plant and an interior lighting network. Moreover, there are networks for connecting natural gas and internal roads, as well as the location of the Zone is fully surrounded by an external wall with guard towers.

An integrated customs unit to provide all services and procedures required for customs clearance of incoming and outgoing mails to and from your project as soon as possible.

A bureau of labor and social insurance.

A port security police unit to secure your project and its cargo within the Zone.

An equipped extinguishing point to combat fire hazards.

 

Main Activities Fields and Investment Opportunities:

Petrochemical, petroleum services, gas liquefaction, medical supplies, assembly of computers and electronic devices, textile and garments, foodstuffs, shipping activity, marine services, refrigerators for keeping food intended for export outside the country, furniture and wood products industry and processing and sorting of grains.
